Mr. Abernathy, a Florida native, was introduced to the construction industry in 1975 as a carpenter apprentice while attending college for construction management and engineering at FIU. He progressed from carpenter to foreman, superintendent, project manager to eventually president of SAC Construction. 

A leading commercial contracting company in South Florida for over 40 years. In 1996, he relocated to Carbondale, Colorado where he expanded the business in residential development. Then, in 2002 he returned to Florida to reestablish his business presence in the South Florida market.

ABK Construction Group uses its experience and expertise to work directly for the Owner on a project, both self-performing work and managing the subcontractors that perform specific trades. 

Our experienced staff is able to use their extensive experience to manage every aspect of a project from budget and schedule to material delivery and onsite logistics. We provide services from preconstruction through closeout and beyond to extend to the warranty period on a project as well, and we pride ourselves on delivering quality projects to our clients and building lasting relationships based on the value that we deliver. 

Our team has experience in major construction markets, providing GC services in projects in K-12 and Higher Education, Student Living, Hospitality, Recreation, Government, Office, Healthcare and Specialty Markets. ABK Construction Group prides itself on staying ahead of industry standards in areas of safety, scheduling and technology.
